Tesla Begins Taking Orders for Solar Roof

Tesla is now accepting deposits for its new solar roof system that will integrate solar power into its roof coverings.  The company says installations will begin in June.

Tesla is taking $1,000 deposits toward work that includes removing a house's existing roof, installing the solar tiles and equipping the home with a battery to store power.

The solar tiles will be offered in a variety of styles, from slate and terra cotta to smooth or textured dark gray.

Telsa To Start “Pilot Manufacturing” New Solar Roof Tiles

Telsa recently released its first quarter 2017 financial results and told shareholders it will start “pilot manufacturing” the first tiles that will be utilized on their new solar roofs by the end of this summer.

The company told shareholders it is partnering with Panasonic, which will provide capital and operational support to manufacture photovoltaic (PV) cells.  Telsa said this will allow high volume integrated tile and PV cell production.
