When our homes are built, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are included in components of construction in almost every area of the home. Now, they are intended to keep things such as carpeting, paint, flooring and hardwood finish durable and resilient over time. However, the fibers from VOCs are slowly released into the air as compression occurs over time. One of the places where this compression can happen most often is in walking on the floor, and with the large number of VOCs that exist in carpeting there is the ability for many of these dangerous, toxic chemicals to be released into the air making an unhealthy living environment for you and your family.
